Based on calculations, Shivani told that due to Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), earning Rs 25 lakh annually in India is equivalent to earning Rs 70 to 75 lakh annually in America.

She further said that it is not just about how much you earn, it is about how much you can spend from that income. In India, everyday expenses like rent, eating out, house maid, health service and even internet access can be easily met with this money, but it is very less compared to the United States.
For example, a 1BHK apartment in a big metro city in India can cost ₹45,000-55,000 per month, while in the US it will be around ₹1.5-2 lakhs. Hiring a domestic help, which can cost Rs 12000 in India, can cost over ₹2.2 lakhs in the US.
